Striving towards Awards and Accreditation
Morgantown, West Virginia Portrait Photographer
I have been part of an amazing educational program for the past several years. They have recently developed an Awards and Accreditation program and I have been slowly participating. Each photo that you earn a professional standard score for will earn you points towards your Accreditation. First there is Associates, then Masters, then finally Fellows.
At first when I entered, I only entered 2 or 3 images to see where I stood. I was pleased with the feedback and was reassured that I knew what my strengths and weakness were. I gained a point or two slowly.
Then, for this past submission in July, I actually scheduled sessions for entering the awards. I pushed myself; I watched videos, I practiced and I worked on my weaknesses. I earned 6 bronze awards this time towards my accreditation and I know that I am moving in the right direction.
I am so proud of the work that I have put in towards my first goal of achieving my associates. I know that most of my clients may not care about whether I have won awards or not, but I care about this work. Seeing the milestones and the achievements increase, is a tactile way to see my growth. It insures that I am always striving to be better, for myself and for my clients.
This work is for me. This is my education, this is my push to always improve my skills so that I can produce my best work. My goal for next year is to earn my Associates. I had wanted to major in photography and now I have an opportunity to get my associates, masters and eventually my fellows. I am so excited to see what this program brings to my photography and how it will help it evolve.
I can’t to show you what I have been working on for the January submissions!
